Help Fuse take care of you

TAKE CARE

Some words on what a safe night out actually takes, and how you can help.

Care and awareness is an ongoing focus at Fuse, not a finished initiative. It's a topic that needs regular attention, and it shifts as nightlife itself does. As a new season kicks off, we want to open that conversation with you directly: we're gathering ideas and input from clubbers on what care should look like on our floor, and we'd genuinely like your perspective before we set our priorities for the months ahead.

Here's where things currently stand. A dedicated Care Team is on the floor every night Fuse is open: They are active in three ways: 3-4 people inside focused on prevention and support, stewards outside who walk solo visitors to the metro or their car, and a coordinator keeping training and follow-up on track.

None of this runs on its own. Our Care Team and security staff train together through structured programs we fund ourselves, like first aid, recognising and responding to sexual harassment, and de-escalation, developed in collaboration with Brussels by Night Federation, the organisation supporting care & awareness efforts across Brussels' nightlife scene.

To give you a sense of scale: last year, the team stepped in close to 600 times. Most often, that meant giving someone a calm, quiet place to reset after getting a bit overstimulated. The next most common reason was de-escalation, helping when one visitor crossed a line with another. Around 1 in 5 of all interventions involved a woman.

This brings us to the following: Fuse is currently in the running for Lady Fortuna, the National Lottery's support programme. Extra funding, if we're selected, would go straight into our care work and developing new ideas. If any of this matters to you, we're gathering your voices too. Use the link below to share your experience, your ideas, or anything else that could help us build a safer space.

Voting runs until 1 October; more info on voting can be found at nationaleloterij.be
